The Web site of San Diego's New & Unique Videos (www.newuniquevideos.com) is strictly a means of providing a feel for the inventory. The site offers a demo reel and a visit to an alphabetic list will pull up a couple of stills to convey the mood of "animals," "elephants" or "Tasmanian devils."

CEO Mark Schulze states, "A lot of people initially find us on the Web and usually just go to our title page to get our phone number and call us for footage."

It was enough for DreamWorks, which was searching for a San Diego-based library because it wanted footage of San Diego in the '70's for its film "Anchorman," starring Will Ferrell. "We were the only ones that really had that stuff," Schulze asserts.

Along with footage of the downtown area and nearby mountains, DreamWorks also took some footage of India in the '70's.

Another incentive for site viewers to call is the library's inexpensive footage, running $25 a second or less.

For the moment, Schulze is satisfied with the extent of the Web site and is waiting for a less expensive means of putting clips on the Internet. He adds, "People want things so specific that the only way they know is to call us. "The stock house doesn't charge for research, except for audition cassettes with visible timecode dubs, which allow for more specific ordering.
