San Diego Producer and ISES Board Member Wins Top Producer Award
by Patty Mooney
San Diego video production company Crystal Pyramid Productions proudly announces that CEO Mark Schulze has been recognized as a 2002 Top 100 Producer by AV Video Multimedia Producers Magazine. This is Schulze's third honor as a Top 100 Producer; he also won in 1997 and 1999.
Some of the high profile events Schulze has worked on this year include an installation video for Olhausen Billiards, a show for the Home Improvement Network and interviews on pre-Super Bowl festivities in San Diego for Maxim Magazine, E! Entertainment Television, Access Hollywood and Black Entertainment Television. He also documented a Hall of Sports Champions dinner attended by legendary athletes including Bruce Jenner, Kellen Winslow and Mean Joe Green; the event benefited Lifesharing - an organ-donation organization.
In 2002 Schulze shot interviews with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lucy Liu and Elijah Wood for E! Entertainment Television at ComiCon - one of San Diego's top events. He also shot a WUSA interview with Julie Foudy, captain of the San Diego Spirit soccer team.
Schulze first started his video production business, Crystal Pyramid Productions, in 1981, when he was fresh out of the University of California at San Diego, having majored in telecommunications and sociology. Since then, he has produced training and events videos for a diverse range of companies including UPS, Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co., Miller Brewing Co., Columbia TriStar, Qualcomm and more.
In the mid 1980s, Schulze began another company, New & Unique Videos, to produce and distribute award-winning home-video titles. Videos include "Massage For Relaxation," "Ultimate Mountain Biking" and "Full Cycle: A World Odyssey," a multiple international award-winning travel documentary adventure.
While filming the World Odyssey video, Schulze and his partner, Patty Mooney, collected almost 100 hours of footage, which they parlayed into the New & Unique Videos stock footage library in 1993. Clips from the library have appeared in theatrical releases and advertising campaigns and on broadcast television. Perhaps you have seen the infamous underwater mountain biker or cliff walker on Real TV, the headrest driving a car on When Cars Attack, or jousting kangaroos on World's Funniest Animals.
So when you need that money shot to complete your project, or you want custom footage from a Top 100 producer, call on Mark, who is otherwise known as the "MacGyver of the video world," to those who know and love him.
